Welcome to Pickaway County!
Welcome to Pickaway County! If you’ve never been here before we hope you enjoy your stay and intend on making a return trip in the future. I’ve you’ve been here before, welcome back!
A little history on our county will tell you that the work Pickaway originates from the native work “piqua” meaning “risen from ashes.” Founded in 1810, Pickaway County is rich in Native American history and many Indian burial mounds are still located throughout our county.
Today, Pickaway County remains primarily an agricultural community boasting nearly 300,000 acres of farmland. The county has more than 53,000 residents with roughly 13,000 living in the county seat of Circleville.
Not only is our community blessed with a rich agricultural foundation, we are also home to a number of major industries, including PPG, DuPont, General Electric, Georgia Pacific and TriMold to name a few. A community cannot succeed without the small business owner and Pickaway County Chamber consists of over 200 businesses that can be considered “small business.”
